Majestic,Aerosoft,Flight1... Who's Better?

Sun Jun 23, 2013 3:23 pm

Which of the overall simulations captures more of an authentic feel of the aircraft they have modelled? Flight1 ATR, Majestic Dash8 or the Aerosoft Twin Otter. All opinions are welcomed as to why each aircraft is better.

Flight 1 ATR is quite old
Majestic Dash 8 - 400 is out of this world
Aerosoft T/otter - no idea

Recommend the new dash 8

Majestic Dash8

Easy choice. The Flight-1 ATR was good for its time but it is fairly old now. I used it a few months ago and while it is always fun to fly a place one has not used in a while I haven't gone back to it since.

Don't know about the otter, have heard good things about it but even the Otter is a few years old.

I have the Dash-8-400 and WOW! That is all which needs to be said. Great performance with the flight dynamics being outside the simulator. If really feels like flying a large turboprop even though I have never flown an actual large aircraft in my life. Awesome simulation a must buy for any serious simmer.

I have all three.

The Majestic Q400. Is up there with PMDG and Realair as far as quality is concerned.

The Flight1 ATR is simulated well but is showing itsage as an FS9 port over.

The Aerosoft two otter is somewhat lite. Condition levers are either full rich or cut off. The number of operational switches are limited as well. Although the Two otter Extended should be out soon and looks promising visually. Although I'd exoect it to rely on the flawed FSX turboprop model

If you were to choose one I'd go the Majestic Dash hands down.

MAJESTIC!!!!!!

I have a friend who flies the Q400 for a living with Jazz, and he says that the model is extremely accurate. From the soundset, to the VC, to the Exterior model, I would rate this aircraft 11/10. However, with that being said, the Q400 can be a bit CPU hungry, and often times see my CPU usage meter in the 90% range. other than that, flawless.

Just an update.

The Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended has just been released. Haven't got it yet but it looks promising.

Just noticed that today. Been waiting for a new STOL aircraft for those SBH and SABA flights. Defiently looking to buy it soon.

I caved in and brought it not long after my previous post. Needless to say my first flight in it was TNCM-TFFJ which went well except I think I might have accidentally decapitated a couple of people coming in too low over that hill. As far as modelling goes it's a big step up from the original two otter. I love the interactive checklist. Can't wait to I have more free time to test it out over longer legs.

You had to post this! About to make the purchase
A good STOL and the PMDG 777 (when it comes out) really gives me a nice complete FSX fleet now.
