I have a Sony Camcorder, and I have taken it down to Sydney Kingsford Smith a couple of times to see what filming planes is like.

I would like to know how to put them on to the computer, and what I would have to buy.

Maybe the head of Airliners.net could create a new section for people with camcorders and the special cards etc. to post small video files of take offs, landings (maybe crashes, Heaven forbid), this would capture the motion of the aircraft more than a photo can.

There could also be short films of tours inside the aircraft and in the cockpit, even while it is taking off, cruising, landing.

What do you think?,

Hi,
I have a FlyVideo 2 capture card.. its not proffesional but it seem to work nice here.. similar products are Video Shuttle 2 etc.. I currently use it for capturing video from my video with Ulead VideoStudio 3 (better than the provided software) .. what camcorder do you use? I'm looking on buying used one..
You can check its specifications (FlyVideo) at this site:

Hi Bulldog,

I have a Sony TRV45E that we got duty free on our visit to the UK last christmas.

How much does the Fly Video cost and what computer does it require?

Thanks,

Here are the requirements from the link I gave you:
133 MHz CPU or higher
IBM PC or compatible computer system.
16 MB RAM
10 MB minimum available disk space for application and driver installation
PCI or AGP SVGA graphics card with DirectX support
Windows 95/98 support
One available PCI slot
Sound card (for audio capture)

I bought it for about 50-60$ (USD) here (in Israel).. I think its cheaper in Autstralia now
