Fake Photos

Sun Feb 20, 2000 12:21 am

Today, I was looking through my new pictures on airliners.net, and I am pretty sure I have detected a fake picture. If you look at http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=68463, you will see a VS 742 (G-VBEE) landing, and Delta Air Lines L-1011 (N753DA) taxiing into take-off position. THIS PICTURE IS A FAKE!!! I did some research, and VS' arrival from LGW lands at 4:10 PM. Delta's closest L-1011 t/o from BOS is at 3:15 to ATL. That leaves about an hour difference. I live in Boston, and I doubt there were any delays since it was 50 and sunny here. I also took a look at all his pictures (67), and noticed that a little over half appeared to be fake. I have discussed this issue with other BOS spotters in the past, and they have all agreed with me. By the way, the photographers name is Mark Garfinkel.

Please. What you see is not fake images...it's brilliant photography. Mark has PROVEN his pictures to be real to others here on this forum...

I'm not even going to argue the scheduling difference between the DL and VS aircraft...delays can happen no matter what (even if it is sunny and 50).

Anyway, he's a great photographer. Why? Because he makes people scream "NO WAY!!!!!!". Take a look at most of the other photos on this site, and his stand out above anything else.

Hi all

The shot is brilliant and not fake at all.

Please do not post comments like this on the forum about other peoples work, please !

If you have a problem, please contact the photographer.

I will not delete this post, just so others will take heed.

Thanks for clearing up the subject. I was unaware this was in the rules.

I remember the former discussion mentioned by Scooter, in which emotions ran quite high at times. Anyway, I'm not going to elaborate on that. All I wanted to say, is delays are not only caused by the weather conditions at the final destination. What about the weather at departure? Late arrival of the aircraft from a previous flight? Missing pax (hence having to offload baggage)? Strong headwinds en route?
The list goes on and on...

If anything, I'd say having two particular (types of) aircraft in one picture, is hardly enough to blame the photographer of uploading fake pix. IMHO, that is.

Best regards,

TriStar.
