Help!

Sun Aug 20, 2000 5:41 am

I know that this kind of topic is posted a lot here, but I'll try it anyway.

I have lots of photos scanned on using 300 dpi, and I am trying to make them look better using Adobe Photo Shop Deluxe. I am rather new to Photoshop and am having trouble making the pictures look good. I think one problem might be the many of my pictures are with 200 speed film (I have tried to use 100 and will soon get many more photos on 100 speed film).

Can someone who is familar with Photoshop please teach me how to use it to fix these photos, or tell me that they need to be in 100 speed film.

Thanks

Have you tried to sharpen the picture a little bit, I looked at the 777 and to me it seems the edges are not really sharp.

Try it and take a look at it.
How to you scan your pictures. I am not familiar with Photoshop, but does it allow you to scan into the software, means you start the software first and then from there the scanner..........

Hi There

Im not familiar with photoshop but here's how I scan my pics with Paint Shop Pro.

I scan at 600dpi, I sharpen the image once, then resize using the pixel resize option, then I sharpen the image twice. The image comes out crystal clear with that method. If you want to download the latest version of Paint Shop Pro go here: http://fosi.ural.net

Photo Deluxe Tools 1

Sun Aug 20, 2000 1:05 pm

I hope you don't mind but I took your two photos and since I use Photo Deluxe wanted to experiment the tools I usually use for my photos on yours.
My Photo Deluxe is in portuguese so I don't know exactly the translation of the menus and tools.
What I do is going to the menu "Advanced" (the sixth to the bottom or the last one), then the menu "Quality" (or the fifth to the right), then you "Sharpen" the photo (or the fifth tool to the right) and lately you make the "Instant Correction" (or the first tool in the same "Quality" menu.
These are the results:

the same photo using Photo Deluxe

one more thing, I scan at 150 dpi and that's enough and also your photos are small, get them bigger.

the other photo is in the next message to avoid this being to slow to open.

Mirage

Thanks for your help. I will try those suggestions.

By the way, the reason that the photos are so small is because of the website. They are 1000 pixels wide on my computer.
