Tue Aug 22, 2000 10:21 am

Any opinions on the EOS 3 ? I need to replace my EOS 5, so I need a 3rd camera. I have heard and read mixed reviews of this particular camrea, so if anyone out there has an opinion, I would be intrested in hearing them.

Yeah, I've been considering that one as well, but it is a little more pricey, and I already have (2) EOS 1N's, I thought I would look at a slighlty less expensive body.

Thanks, Mark.

I have tried both the 1V and 3 before I decided to buy Eos 3. In my opinion, that 30% difference in price does not necessarily mean that 1V is that much better.

Eye-control focusing is very addictive   (and you can turn it off with a switch anytime...)

My Experience

Wed Aug 23, 2000 10:31 am

I have used EOS3 for a half year and here are my comments:

AF speed - faster than EOS 1N and EOS5, of couse all focusing point are active
Film transport - fast, but you need a heavy Booster E2
Focusing screen - brighter than 1N but not 5

If you are currently 1N user, you can utilise it in a short moment and the price is now very attractive (less than USD1000 in grey market) and the booster E1 (for 1N, 1...) can be used but the function is limited.

In my experience, I only use one (mostly centre) foucsing point to improve the efficiency. Of course, the AF speed is superior than EOS1n, 1, 5 .... , excpet 1v.

Consider the price and performance ration, I still choose EOS3, and do not choose EOS1v.

Comments are all welcomed.
