Are These Photos Blurry?

Sun Nov 05, 2000 7:36 am

Hey,

I got some pics accepted recently, but with warnings that they were blurry. I just wanted to get your opinion if YOU think they are blurry or not.

They are a little bit, could use a bit more sharpening on them.

you should see the only photo of mine of a flying plane
on Airliners.net. I have 77 here and the only "flying"
one is terrible compared to yours !!!!!!! It should
probably be deleted - it is pretty bad....

Those photos are under-sharpened. They are soft but not blurry. Blurry is when you used a slo shutter speed and the plane is blurred, or the camera is out of focus. If you fix them, don't use the re-upload script, as it reduces quality adding JPEG compression. Instead just do the regular upload again and ask Johan to delete the older versions. I have to do that with this shot:

I have a bigger version that is sharp and has better contrast.

Now, if you under-sharpened those photos because you didn't want grain, then invest in a better program with a good unsharp-mask. You could look at the GIMP for Win95/98, it's far better than that "PhotoDeluxe" and is free. Whoever wants the URL for this program, e:mail me and i will give it to you.

I now use the program to sharpen all of my shots.
