Mike, FastGlass, all,
Here are the reviews that I have found on the web so far:
plus I talked to a sports photographer who has used one and he said he shot racing speedboats in low light, hand held with asa 100 film and the shots were tack-sharp.
It’s a mixed bag of reviews. The consensus seems to be:
- it’s a very sharp lens edge-to-edge
- the VR works well
- it’s not AI-S (Silent Wave)
- it’s not constant aperture (e.g. f4)
Nonetheless, I’m going to get it as soon as I can get my grubby hands on one. The local place here will sell it for $1499. That's not bad considering gray market was going for > $1600 here in the US.
