Its closed now!......But I think most would agree that Hong Kong's Kai Tak was probably the most photogenic airport in the world. It was not so much the airport itself that was stunning, but Kai Tak's locaton, the dramatic mountain and cityscape backdrops the endless parade of widebodies. These elements drew photographers from the world over, just to shoot at this airport.

One airport here in the US that is interesting to shoot would be BOS, just check out some of Mark Garfinkel or Vasco Garcia's work. With its close proximeity to downtown BOS, the skyline provides a dramatic backdrop. As well as a very diverse selection of international and domestic service.

From an architectural stand point I would say that DEN, CLK are some of the more interesting airports, as well as Daharan, Saudi Arabia.

Hope this helps, I am sure that there will be additional airports added by other photogs.

I would agree with Thomas that HKG Tai Tak was one of the most interesting airport to shoot at. I have never been there myself but what I have seen and heard, too bad that they closed it.

As far for the US Airports BOS may be one of the TOP ones to take pictures. If you know where to go and be there at the right time and on top of that bring the right equipment ( 500mm plus helps ) you can take some awesome photos.

P.S. We had the first snow of the season today.

Hi David, Vasco,

BOS is a great airport to shoot at I must agree. Shoot many of roll or film there and almost got arrested twice.. That's another story.

Are you going to have an airport escort or do you want to shoot from streetside ?(outside the perimeter fence)

EWR is great on account off all the traffic and if you want to shoot from inside the terminal it's not bad in comparison to others around the country. Incredibly for Newark NJ, they actually have relatively clean windows!

MBJ (Montego Bay Jamacia) can be interesting as the approch lights extend out several hundred yards in to the water. Only down side to MBJ is its really high crime rate. I had a escort while looking for some long lost DC-3's in the weeds off the side of the airport and I was still somewhat nervous even while on airport grounds. Off the airport is another story, Probably best to get a cab from someone you trust and have him stick by you. Hate to get you down about all this negative stuff about the place because it is interesting. Lots of charters worldwide and of course a steady stream or Air Jamaica A/C. Always wanted to rent a boat there and wait for the inbound traffic....

Best of luck, let us know how you make out,

Lawrence

For scenery, I would have to put EGE at the top of the list (U.S.). My journey to EGE last year was probably the most rewarding trip I have ever made.

SXM has to be the best in the world, hopefully I can make it there someday.
