747? 757? 777? Airbuses? What'll it be?

Jumbos, but in particular the 747-400.

I also love the 757.

Without a doubt it's BA's 777's but unfortunately they come in and leave after dark these days in Montreal. Next would be any A310 (Royal, Aeroflot, CSA, Tarom) for some reason.

Hello

For me, the A340 is the best airplane to film. it has wide wings and 4 engines.

I love photographing the 747-400 (Since we get tons of those here at LAX!) and also the A340 and MD-11 are nice to photograph.

Ahhh..the poor under-appericiated narrow body. It is no surprise that no one selected any of these airframes (save for the 757). We all want glamour! and it cannot be denied that a big, powerful, frame filling 747 excites even the most jaded of us. But, I'll go waaaaay out and say that the 727/737/707 as well as the DC-9 and DC-8 and MD 80s are some of my favourites, simply becasue they are a challange to photograph.

Granted they do not have the size and bulk or shear power of a 747 or a DC-10 or even the grace and elegance of a 757, but that is where the challange is for me, as a photographer to give these often ingnored beauties their '15 minutes'.

But, if I had to make a pick it would certainly be the 707/DC-8. These first generation jetliners have always held a special place in my heart.

I only wish I had taken up aviation photography when I was in High School and College. I have travelled though many of the world's most famous airports LHR/SYD/BKK/HKG/JFK/CDG/BOS ect.....never bothering to point one of my camreas at the ramp and now the 707s are almost extinct, HKG closed, Braniff gone, PA gone (the REAL Pan Am!)....bummer...... If I had started shooting planes in say'78' instead of '94' I would probably have a somewhat more intersting portfolio

Hi!
I like the A330, A319, and A321's. Boeing, I like 757, 747-200/300, 767-200, 737-500.

I hate taking photographs of 747-400's and A320's not to mention the beautiful plane but hard to get a really good shot of CONCORDE!

Merry Chrimbo everyone!

Thomas,

I could say the same thing especially the DC-8/707, but I am still some years younger than you but I was fortunate to travel to all kind of nice places when I was younger, I had tons of cockpit flight with Aerolineas Argentinas ( my dad used to fly for them ) and then there were tons of photo opportunities at SJU, SDQ, CCS, MIA, LAX, SFO, PMI, LAS, etc......I was out on the ramp in FRA visiiting the B74F a couple of times. I missed all these as I always was into airplanes but had no relationship to photography and I have seen and flown many many nice airliners over the years.

Somehow this makes me a little mad, but there is nothing you can do.

No too long ago, probably 2 years ago and then I just had a point of shot camera, I was invited by AA BOS to take a look at their first 777 visiting. Hmmmm the photos turned out not to good.......but anyway....

Normally I prefer "heavies" but with the correct light and angle you can create some dramatic photo even with a narrowbody, i.e 737, MD-88, Canadair etc....

Season Greetings
this time from FRA

I tell you the plane I don't like to photograph, the MD-80 or DC-9 series, not photogenic for my taste. On the other side, all the heavies make nice photos and can make very nice photos, like the 744 or MD-11.

I agree, Heavies indeed.. I can't wait till the A380 rules the skies, man I want a pict of it so bad..
If anyone at Toulousse, keep monitor of A3XXS process and take picts of it right when it rolles out.. Any version will do fine..
