Did I Make An Expensive Mistake On A Sigma Lens?

Mon Jan 15, 2001 11:35 am

I was in Singapore last week, and found a lens in the Duty Free that I could not resist buying. I surprised myself by buying something without a little research, but I don't know when I would go back that way.

I paid about US$ 430 for a Sigma 28-300mm 3.5-6.3 Aspherical lens. It's not a particularly fast lens, but it is very compact (much smaller than the Canon 100-300mm 4.5-5.6 lens I still have), and means I don't have to carry 2 cameras or a second lens for wide angles.

Does anyone know this lens? The weather both in Singapore and now home in Geneva has been lousy, so I haven't been able to try it yet.

Thanks,

Charles

Dont have it but camera magazine reviews have been positive, mainly the ability to carry one lens in place of two should be a bonus.

The weather today was excellent, so I managed to try it out. Now I just need to wait for the development.

It's really nice not having to swap lenses anymore.  Smile

Cheers,

Charles
