Shooting Inside @ ORD

Sat Feb 10, 2001 7:29 am

I'll be passing through ORD early next week, and I'll have about 2 hours between flights to hang out and take pics.

I've heard the Delta gates ('L'?) offer nice views of the international terminal (including taxiing traffic), but I'm wondering what sort of lens I'll need for this spot. My max is 95mm, so I hope that'll be enough.

Thanks for any info!

95mm should be okay, at least for the interesting stuff.

What time of day (morning, afternoon, etc...) will you be there? The end of Conourse L is an afternoon spot. In morning you're looking right into the sun.

Hey scott, i'll take this one on...

Ahh ORD.... I've grown bored with the terminal but your only there for 2 hours, otherwise i'd give you my "secret 27R spot"

Although everyone likes the L gates, i prefer the american "K" gates much more. Here you can catch the internationals taxing after pushback with a skyline in the background... case in point:

Hope you have comfortable shoes, (unless your flying AA, then it doesnt really matter)

Like i said, i dont really shoot Inside ORD much anymore, but when im passing through the only place i go anymore is K. Here is another from this spot:

This gate often is used for Iberia 767's to madrid early afternoon (i believe)

Come up here this summer some time, i'll show you around (within reasonable distance w/o a car)..

Agree that the K gate spot is preferable to the L concourse. This time of year, a good midday spot is the Air Wisconsin gate area of United, which has a great view of 27R/09L. You'll work up an appetite going from there to K, however!

I went to O'hare on feburary, 10th, and concourse L is a good spot when all the europe flights come in the early afternoon. I still missing spotting in the lounge area of k19, since they put up the extension of that gate. now I have to go over to k16 lounge and hope there is not enough people there to spot.

How was the spotting/weather yesterday at ORD? I intended to go there yesterday, but I was scared off by the weather forecast.

Did you get some UA DC-10's?
