I have never heard of them...Can anybody give some information on them and where they may have been flying to today at approx 11:30AM...P.S I was with another photog from BOS today...his stunning photos speak for themselves.....his initials are VG
Cheers and thanks in advance if anyone has some info

Hi Mark,

I am surprised you have not heard of them, they are a fairly well known cargo carrier based out of Luxembourg, they have a number of US destnations, including IAH. They fly a fleet of 747-200Fs and 400Fs.

Thanks Thomas, I still have alot to learn regarding "spotting", BOS is not too exciting when it comes to variety of airlines. BA,Lufthansa,Icelandair,Koreanair,Swissair,Virgin....Not much else when it comes to international carriers....I need to do some traveling
Cheers

Thomas,

CV only has -400Fs. Infact, LX-MCV was the first RR 744 built.

They fly JFK, HSV, MIA, IAH, LAX, SFO, SEA and PDX as far as US destination go.

Mark, it had to be flight CV 7787 eta JFK 12.35pm.

Who the heck is VG? Victor Gonzales or Vladimir Groschnik..............  Wink/being sarcastic

I was there too and we had a lot of fun, even though it was a little windy and the sun did not want to stick around too long.
I can give the compliment back to you Mark, awesome shots and that 600f4 with the 2x extender is some piece of equipment.  Big thumbs up

Can't wait for the warm weather to arrive.

They used to operate 742's but nowadays only 744's.
RR stands for Rolls Royce I would image.

Good night everyone I am tired after 5hrs of tennis today.

They may have or are possibly in the process of gotting rid of their 200s.

I remeber when they were flying '8s' one of my personal favorites!

Mark,

No, according to my sources at Cargolux (and my 2000-01 JP Fleet book) CV only has -400Fs. These are LX-FCV -> RCV

The -200Fs were sent away a while ago.

RR=Rolls Royce (engines)

Mark,

Don't be too upset about the variety of airliners at BOS. Granted, it isn't the LAX, JFK, MIA etc, but it certainly isn't that bad. If you want a bad variety, come out here to PHX - you'll get your fill of America West and Southwest pretty quick. We've only got 7 intl - soon to be 8, but HP and WN dominate here. If you want to shoot HP's entire fleet, you probably could do so in two days here.

Plus, BOS has some pretty damn good backdrops.

Oh yeah, Saul.... I bet my airport is heaps more dull than your airport  Nuts

IAH use to have a sizable selection of not only Int'l but domestic widebodies at one time. But Boeing and that damned 737-300 Angry and all the other subsuquent 737 models that followed as well as the MD-80 sadly changed all of that.

Hi all

Mark, you must have been out of circulation for years as Cargolux have been going for as long as I can remember.

One of their 747-400's regularly overfly Aberdeen to some US destination.

I think with few exceptions that we all tend to get bored with our local airports. At least in the Metro-Washington, DC area we have three major ones to choose from: IAD, DCA and BWI. There is always something to keep us busy!

I envy the LAX, JFK and Miami boys (and girls if there are any).

Sunil,

Trust me, there are times even at JFK I get bored. Same old visitors over and over again. But, wasn't like that this Saturday. Finally the sun cooperated and got to shoot the SAA/Nigeria B747-300, ACA Jet Do-328Jet, World/CO DC-10, Avianca B757 Retrojet.

And to keep it on-topic, yes we get Cargolux also. Even the Airfreight Express AFX B747 now has small operating for Cargolux titles.

I havent seen a CargoLux Be4 but I wonder if it goes to Anchorage.
Perhaps I can trakc it down as it flies over Calgary.

Also.. Calgarys airport CYYC. SUCKS CRAP! > Sad
Ever since CDN airlines died.
Its NOTHING AND I SAY NOTHING Except Air Canada planes.

At times I see a couple Canadians in old or new colors and charters like Canada 3000 and 2 international charters Monarch and Airtours.
Bye Bye to them! Spring season is here.
Overall I havent travelled in 10 years and I miss all those airports..  Sad  Sad
CYYC and Air Canda is lame.

By the way, in BOS (where that shot was taken)
\Does anybody know how high it was flying or most planes fly at?
Estimates are welcome.

Bo

I don't know what you guys are complaining about re: lack of variety. Obviously you've never been to Charlotte......US AIRWAYS US AIRWAYS! At least you get maybe 3 or 4 different airlines and some international variety. We get US Airways 767s and the occasional BA.

Bo, A frequency on the scanner, 127.825, sometimes lowers jets from flight level 39,000 feet to around 30,000 over BOS, so I am guessing it was going into JFK , Newark or Philly

PHL is dull too...although FLL (the only real spotting trip I have taken), had a nice variety of aircraft in the 45 mins I was spotting...two Air Transat L-1011, UA 757, US 733, 734, 2 Spirit MD-80's, DL 762, 763, Cessna Citation, NW A320, Chalk's Turbo Mallard, AA MD-80 and ATR-42 (72?)...pretty good...and all on videotape...

Man . I wanna see your flocks of US Airs and such at your airport in Charlotte or PHL.
even though yo guys will say that its lame.. To me its interesting to see.
I find that you guys will agree that seeing something different for a change is a big PLUS to a Airport trip.

When I use my scanner to listen to Frequencies of planes flying over 20000 feet. Its not that easily possible.
I have the dfrequency for the Calgary area like
133.3 and 128.7 but I hear nothing at all.. even when the planes are flying overhead?!
Somethings weird. It was indicated that those codes are the more popular ones that I can get in my area.

But I hope to get some luck soon./. Local traffic is gooood. hehe
I recently found that you can also listen to McDonalds Drive Thru!
:D hahahah!

CLT wasn't THAT bad. Perhaps it was seeing all the stuff I dont see in the west. I thought Charlotte got A330s after Jan 01...

If you guys want BORING come to PDX between the hours of 1500 and 0900 on a Saturday. It's so boring that I go into the UA bag sorting room and play with the monitors!

Chris

Well CLT isn't THAT bad, I am just craving some variety.

And yes, the A330s have been here for a while, I keep missing it though!  Pissed
