wow that is very cool... i am anything but an expert on LAX, but isnt it rare to use parrelell runways for the arrivals? to my (very limited) knowledge i thought they typically used *for example* 25L and 24R for arrivals, and 24L 25R for departures??

i could be wrong, but i have a feeling thats a pretty rare shot, a keeper fo sher

You can hang out at the big cargo lot all day at LAX and you might see an inner runway arrival. Maybe even two. It's certainly rare that you'd get two arrivals at the same time on the south parallels.

Two departures happens more frequently. I've seen that quite often when the cargo airlines don't want to cross 25R so they just take-off on 25L.

But a photo opportunity like the one above very rarely presents itself at LAX. Good job Joe!

Timing is everything...

Nothing against Joe,,,He IS good. Great photo and all...

The speed of the planes has everything to do with it. I've seen photos from the LAX boys that have 3 stacked showing one jet on 25R-one on 25L and one in the background headed for 24L/R.....it's actually kinda easy at LAX if you hang around there enough,,,,the only problem is, most would be Skywest or something,,,not good like the one Joe Pries took.

It is a very interesting shot. Nicely done Joe.

Mark, it happens at BOS but really hard to capture.
I have tried it a couple of times when arrivals are on 4R and traffic is visually seperated to 4L.
That was my attempt far away ..........

A longer lense 1000mm plus would have created a more dramatic effect....

Vasco,

Its a good shot...but I think the J-41 is clearly ahead of the 757 by a lot...look at their sizes in the shot...the J-41 is nearly as big as the 757...

I know that, it is just an optical illusion.........Joe's picture is far better.
There is a lot of parallel landing here in BOS but the a/c on 4L is always ahead of the one on 4R, as seen on this pic.
