How Does ECF Work?

Tue Apr 10, 2001 7:50 pm

I recently bought a CANON EOS ELAN 7E with Eye Control Focus. I use it alot, but i cannot understand how exactly the camera knows where my eye is looking at. Any ideas?

A lightbeam (infra red) scans your eye. After you have calibrated the camera according to your eye, it will be able to determine which part of the view finder you are looking at since your pupil looks slightly different in different angles. Pretty cool!
