Special Planes In YQB

Mon Apr 16, 2001 8:32 pm

Hi everybody,

This is a message to all photographers that are going to be around the Québec City Airport (YQB) between April 20th and 22nd, 2001. It is worth making a stop. The reason is that 34 Heads of State of all the Americas, except Cuba, are meeting together to discuss the new Free Trade Agreeement of the Americas (FTAA). Each Heads of State will come to Québec with it's own aircraft including George W. Bush with his B747 Air Force One. This is a chance of a life time to see all those aircrafts together.

As a matter of facts, YQB is going to have a real parking problem for the occasion. The airport does not have 34 aircraft parking spaces available. Therefore, it is expected that some of those special visitors will probably be parked at Montréal's Mirabel airport (YMX) some 250 kilometers west of YQB.

One final note however. Be very careful if you do go to YQB. Security will be at a peak for the occasion. RCMP and other police forces will really be on the lookout for trouble makers. If they order you to go away, comply right away and do not argue. They will be nervous this week.

Anyway, besides this "police problem", I think there is great shot to take.

Good Luck, Bonne chance,

Gilbert Guinard
