ABE Is The Best!(Not The Weather Unfortunately)

Mon Apr 23, 2001 10:40 am

...Small airport, big opportunities. The fence there is 7ft--yes thats right--7ft! All I need is a 2ft stepstool to clear the fence.

Think only EWR has that good spot where you can see the whole way down the runway? haha--go to the Wawa food market off airport and park in the rear parking lot--the end of the runway is about 300 yds in front of you, and you can see all the way down it(nice dip in the middle).

For those who want a sweet spotting area, go to ABE!

Cullen

Yea, so what? Nothing goes there! Now if 747s or M11s landed there, I'd go...

When were any of you there last? If it was before 4 years ago, the airport has been expanded since then and it DOES get some decent traffic. Pan Am is now flying there as well.

Now, don't get me wrong, before about 4-5 years ago, IT WAS nothing...Same goes for MHT...when I came here in 1993, it was nothing...

My defenition of 'nothing' is an airfield with only grass strips and a few planes sitting beside the strip(s). I would go even there. I shoot planes--not just big widebodies.

Airlines serving ABE:
US Airways/US Airways Express
Delta/Delta Express
Northwest/Northwest Airlink
Continental Express
Pan Am
United/United Express
Federal Express
Airborne Express

Now...you want an airport that 'nothing' goes to...try AVP.

Jonathan,
Where is TRI?  Smile

Hey i've been to AVP!!! there really isn't much going on there..i think they have a few US Airways MD-80 flights a day and some UAL Express CRJ flights...Comair still maybe (not right now of course) but you're right...there's hardly anything going on up there!

Cullen: TRI is in northeast tennessee..i live about 25min from TRI in bristol...just north in virginia...bristol is a twin-city (half in TN, half in VA) TRI is centrally located between the Tri-Cities of Bristol, Johnson City, and Kingsport (combined est. population 200-250,000)
not much comes here either..

I just was at AVP this weekend twice(by car)...first time it was a US MD80 flight, second time it was a USX Dash8 flight...nothing else.

One thing I have to say, the inside of their terminal is sweet!!(my bias towards 70s style is really screaming here  Nuts)

Errr, I have seen many airports with fences that are only 7ft and even shorter than that here in Australia, and the opportunities to look down the whole RWY is endless. You can get real close at a lot of airports here and I bet thousands of others around the world. Its no big deal really.....
