New Copyright Violations

Mon Jul 02, 2001 10:24 pm

G'Day all

While surfing the net I came across this site:
http://www.blue-becker.de
... and saw many pictures I knew from Airliners.net before. (Mark Garfinkel and others.)
I can't see any credits or copyright notes, so I leave it here for discussion

Now I don't speak German, but when i ran his disclaimer page through the Babelfish translator - I believe he claims "no responsibility" for stealing the photos.

I hope Mr. Garfinkel - who has had several photos stolen and placed on the "757 sepcial" page, will wrtite and demand the photos be removed. As I hope all who have had their copyright violated do too.

I wrote him a note into his guestbook (gastebuch) making him aware of the copyright violations and advised him to remove all the concerned photos to avoid getting into trouble.

Regards

Edwin (AirCanon)

PS: If you intend to write to him you can use point 8 on the start page (start seite). There you get to the guest book (gastebuch).

Gallery 3 (link 16) has 22 A.net photos by Allan Rossmore, Craig Murray, Mark Garfinkel, AirNikon, PixAir, Frank Schaefer and a few others.

Joe,
in his disclaimer he is only speaking of links. If you haven't this disclaimer on the page (here in Germany), you can get into trouble because of possible illegal content on the linked sites.

He tells that most of the pics are from friends or found on the internet. But as Mario said, there are no copyrights or credits

Yep,

there are no credits and I have written something in german in his guestbook, demanding he schould make a "credits to" remark under the photo of my wife on the 757 site. If he won't, I demanded to delete the pic.

I also suggested to him that he schould write a short note to the photographers to ask them, but I also told him that I am not sure what they will say, now that he hasn't asked BEFORE publishing.

BTW: Edwin, I can't find any entry of you concerning the Copyright in the guestbook, did he delete you or did something else went wrong?

Greetings

You guys complain about thumbnails on a private non commercial home page, born to express nothing but enthusiasm about the old spirit of flying, just because there's no mind blowing damn credit on the THUMBNAILS.

That guy's plans are to become pilot and he wants to share his emotions with friends. Emotions! Oh my gosh, what a criminal thief!

Be aware that this guy is a kid. He's 16 years old. "16 Jahre alt."

No matter what, this is clearly a copyright violation.

Instead of just talking about it, please send him a short email that states that he may not publish photos from Airliners.net on his website without permission from the photographer. Request that he removes them all immediately or you will notify Airliners.net.

Or something along those lines. Same goes for every other similar situation. If it's not clearly stated that the photos are used with permission, assume that they aren't and request that they are removed. No matter if it's your photos of photos of some other photographer of Airliners.net.

Thank you,
Johan

Hello all,

I am in email-contact with this guy. Yes, he is 16years old, and the pics are just (big) thumbnails. Nevertheless it must be possible to make a remark for him under his pic-sites where he can write "credits to..." This is not soooo difficult. I have told him some things about A.-Net and how to find the above mentioned photographers. I have also described him how to contact them.

We shouldn't be too angry with him because he really is an aviation enthusiast and will show the fascination of it to the people here in Germany. How about contacting him and give him the permission if he writes this "credits to-remark" under every page (not necessary under every pic, I think) Help him a little bit - I hope he will accept our solution of this little problem.

Guys, this is the 2nd time where a young aviation-fan, who possibly knows nothing about copyright and these things, uses pics of us here - we shouldn't see it too pedantic in such cases...?

Im young, Im only 17 and when I wanted to use a photo on my site I contacted the photographer to ask if it would be ok, he agreed only if I would put his name below the image and credit him which I have done http://www.bonaport.co.uk/intoplanes/news

So, people know the rules, now they need to abide by them

Hi again,

I received again a letter from Jens, the admin of the page www.blue-becker.de.

He is very sorry about that case, really was not aware that he made copyright violations, also because he took the pics from another site of a friend (not mentioned). This friend seems to have cutted all the copyright-remarks out of the pictures.

Jens has no access to his site until the 21st of july because he is going on holiday now.

If anybody wishes his pics to be removed he/she should mail him and he will do it as soon as possible. He also promised to make an extra site with all names of the photographers who like to remain on his pages, but all that at the end of july.

So again: The concerned photographers should mail him so he can mention their names on this site or remove the pics if they wish.

It is hard for him to find the names by himself and write to all of them, because he has his net-access only in a Cybercafe, as far as he wrote to me today.

He also pointed out, that he has learned and such case will never been repeated by him.

Best regards,

Dietmar

Hi,
I recieved exactly the same email that Dietmar did. He is so sorry about it.
But its up to you guys who have some pics on his site to decide if you want them to be removed or not.
He wrote that he is on Fuerteventura right now and can´t do anything before July, 21st...

Ivica

Hi Dietmar,

Yes, he deleted my entry in the guestbook and wrote back a rather rude mail asking why i am interfering. I think that shows that he does know from whom he has pictures on his site and from whom not.

BTW: I see it just as Johan does. 16 years of age is no excuse.

Regards

I dunno...but one really funny picture made me laugh on there. On his "funpics" page...the nose of that plane with Santa Claus painted splattered across the radome...that was funny! Guess that's what happens when you don't maintain visual seperation with Santa's Sleigh!  Big grin  Big grin I don't know what airline it is - I never saw that jet pictured before!

And check out below that, the cartoon of the parachutist falling toward the top of the Helicopter yelling.."fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck"

That word is universal - in any language!  Big grin

Maybe you have noticed it already...

Jens Becker has removed the photos in his picture gallery (http://www.blue-becker.de) which contained photos from airliners.net

It says "Gallery 3 temporarly closed"
