Possible Spotting Trip Next Summer, Where To Go?

Wed Aug 08, 2001 10:55 am

I might go on a spotting trip next summer, now i'd like to know which European Airports are best for spotting to help my decision.

Hi

You said 'spotting' trip.

Do you want to photograph or take registrations?

I am possibly going to Miami with Dean Barnes which is obviously not in Europe but if I was planing a Euro trip I would probably go for either Zurich or Amsterdam.

Hey this summer isn't even over!
And late summer is a good time to go on a trip, not as hot anymore and sun not so high.
At least I still have a couple of short trips planned for this year...

I am going to TFS next summer already and although not as good as a main european airport the traffic I hear is good and some interesting charters etc go there so that should be good

Hm. As you're from Finland, how about LHR (as Gary is always banging on about)? It probably has the best mix of traffic. I would also endorse ZRH (although you'll see a lot of Swissair Airbuses), and AMS (though there are times when it seems every aircraft is a KLM 737, F100 or F50). The best place to go kinda depends on if there's particular airlines you would like to see, or if you are just interested in an airport with really good spotting places.

Gary, when are you going to MIA? Only I'm looking at going down there in Oct: we could make that an A.N "outing"!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
