Where Did The Creativity Go? #2

Fri Aug 24, 2001 9:44 pm

Hi all,

Since the first thread from Vasco is archieved, i started this new one.....

Exactly 1 year and 3 days back i started my activities here on A great site (congratulations Johan)! So i am celebrating my 1st birthday here on!!! Big grin Should be a firework worth hehe...

Looking at some old (bad quality) photos of mine here on is real embarrasing. Embarrassment

I believe my skills did improve in the meantime  Smile/happy/getting dizzy but i am still far away from a professional. So i keep on trying to get better and also take creativity shots when possible.  Smokin cool

Now to get to the topic....

Salzburg Airport W.A.Mozart (SZG / LOWS) is celebrating it´s 75th Anniversary (1926-2001) these days. So i thought i should get some different shots.

Here is one of them....

Hope it gets accepted!

Do you guys (and girls of course) like that one?

Vasco... What do you think about it? It is a creative shot isn´t it?

I personally like that shot but I think it would've been better if you had that business jet closer or any other aircraft seen in its full size (not just tail or nose).
Anyways, the composition is good, so is the quality and I don't see why it should not get accepted.
So congrats on the 1st b-day on and happy shooting - you're a good photographer and I like your new photos.

Just got this message from the screeners a couple of seconds ago....

The photos were either of low esthetic qualities (bad angle,
included window reflections, pictured just a part of an aircraft,
out of focus or similar), pictured an aircraft far in the distance
or did not picture an aircraft at. Finally, you might read this
because your camera displays the date in the lower right corner of
the image. If so, please disable that feature in the future.

Thats why you can´t see the photo anymore.

I´m sooooo sad  Crying

Well anyway it was worth a try. had uploaded two more (better ones) but they also got rejected..  Sad

Thanks Ivailo for your kind words. Appreciate it very much.

Now i´m wondering what you think about this one...
Let´s see if this one survives...  Smokin cool

Please don´t get me wrong of course i respect the decision of the screeners.  Smile

But what was really wrong with these ???  Confused
(I resized them down so that upload time won´t take to long. In original they had the right size.)

If there was a website called then the shots would be perfect.

Anyway, nice photographs.

Nice work there......

1.) the fireworks is looking great, but where is the airport or the plane, that is what a person would ask not knowing where you took that pic

2.) Nice and I don't know why is what rejected.

3.) too far in the distance

Great material but maybe not suitable for and again this is borderline and there we have it again.....

It would be interesting to have Johan commenting on this issue. (creative work)

first two don't load completely here  Sad
In the third "aircraft is too small or too far away" or possibly "part of the aircraft is missing" (only shows the tail of the closest aircraft).

Great shots, seems someone needs to learn a bit of flexibility.

Thank you all for your interesting comments!

As you should know i put a explaination in the remark field telling that this firework was part of the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Salzburg Airport (SZG / LOWS) on August 22, 2001.

Yes i have to admit that on the first photo you can´t see any airplane at all.

But on the other two there are some planes or at least parts of them (tail) to be seen.

It was hard work to get decent photos because the only place to take them from was the observation deck. As you can imagine there were hunderds of people there and i always had to keep people away from my tripod hehe... Big grin

Well i was just curious. Was´nt complaining though.

Now for the SZG night overview photo.... I like it.  Smile

Thanks again everybody!!!!

I think they're great fireworks shots. I just don't think they belong at A.N. Now, if you had a view showing a substantial part of the airport, and the fireworks over the top then that for me would be ok (Airport overview). Otherwise, nope. This is the sort of shot you want on your own website - and that's exactly what I've done in the past - stuff not suitable for or rejected by A.N. goes on there.

I love that one - with the canopy - amazing shot. But the file size is very big. Maybe shrink it a little and see what happens. VERY NICE shot however....

Well as i mentioned earlier before i took note of and respect the screeners rejection.

But here one more last comment/explanation....

Photos N0. 2 and 3 do show parts of the airport. Actually that in the background is the east section of the airport. You can see a recently new built hangar of the "Flying Bulls". That is the place where they will keep oldtimers such as this DC6 (still air worthy and flying)

and other aircraft.

The runway lights (between the apron and the buildings in the background) were turned off. It was short after 10:00PM and the fireworks started after the last aircraft movements.

Also visible is the apron and aircraft on it. So i am a bit confused about "no airport or airport facilities seen"  Confused

Never the less. Let it be as it is....

For anybody who still likes to view the firework photos can visit my (little) web site (english and german language).  Smile

Kind Regards
