Depends on where you are. Looks like you're in Brussels so I can't answer regarding local developing times but here in NY it's less than 24hours.

Bah stop Boasting Mike Big grin, here (in the UK) to be sent to Wimbledon and then on to Switzerland and back takes about 1 week 1 day. Which isn't bad considering the journey it has to take!

If that is right for me again i should be recieving my slides tomorrow  Smile

I usually get mine back in 2-3 weeks (depending). Mine get sent to the Fairlawn, NJ plant, which has been doing a pretty sloppy job recently, scratches, creases, bad mounting, etc...  Pissed

Takes 7 days for me, I got lucky once and it took 5 days. Mike, I guess that answers my question on how you guys get your slides uploaded so soon after sending them in, you're very lucky!

Mine takes 8 days, but it only get sent out every 2 days, so technically I guess it's 4 days, here in Vancouver. Luckily, I haven't had "the scratch", but the mounting job is absolutely appauling, whereby I remount 1/2 slides on average.

In France it took me one week to get K64 developed. They were pretty good at keeping their word too!

Here in the US, in RI, I can get it back in 3 days max, makes me wish I was in NYC though!

You better just hope it isn't in the belly of a grounded Swissair jet somewhere...  Wink/being sarcastic

Anyone know who does the carriage for Kodak between UK and Switzerland?

Hope it turns up soon for you,

I don't send my film into Kodak. I send it to A&I and it takes 2 days. I have hardly ever had a problem with them developing my K64.

Stephen

P.S. The Orange County Kodak lab SUCKS!! The do not know how to handle and develop slides. Big problem there.

For an additional small fee.... I can drop my slides off first thing in the morning @ Kodak in Fairlawn, NJ and get them back the same day later that afternoon. Since I live nearby, I always drop them off and pick them up the next day myself. 24 hour turnaround here.

For a while, I was getting lucky getting them back in just over a week. No such luck recently with 3 weeks being the norm.

Problems With K64 Scans.

Sat Oct 13, 2001 8:50 am

I just scanned a few slides off of K64 on my S20.
The scans turned out to be very unsatisfying..
I am getting like super overcontrast results and many of my shots are coming out Dark.
For some shits that came out bright, I am seeing these lines that strike through the entire picture..

Is there something that can be done ot overcome this?
I checked my original slides and they look fine to me.
very fine infact.. But the scan itself is crappy..
I am experiencing similar results for Fuji slides as well..

If there isnt a way to fix this, I guess I will have to call HP and get this replaced or a Refund or something cuz I am really getting fed up with this, Ive been working my butt off trying a whole shtload of settings to overcome this but it is all no good.

What's my point?? That I get my slides back in 24 hours and you in 3 weeks.  Smokin cool

Strange thing is that if I mail them in to Kodak Fairlawn, NJ which as I said is only 15 minutes away from me.... it takes 2-3 weeks to get them back my mail! That's crazy...I'm in the same state, same county, same area code and a short car drive away.

Does anyone use A&I's KR mailer's? If so, do they do a decent job? I have been tempted to try them sense Fairlawn is so slow and sloppy these days.

BO__einG:

I had the same kind of problems when scanning, and they were bigger when scanning KR, even with excellent shots. Kodachrome were in addition totally "blue". I tried to correct the overcontrast, but now I know that I ruined the scans (I gave them too much brighness).

I read that that new Nikon scans had a Kodachrome option and I thought that it was the time to change my Nikon LS-30 for a new LS-40.

Fortunately, CKW advice me to use Vuescan software, that also had the KR option. The results were that I hadn't to make any adjustments and scans now match the original slide!. The KR option also worked fine with other high density films like several Fujis (Velvia...). This program is not very user friendly in the beggining, but once that you understand it, almost no settings are needed.

I callibrated again the monitor that was throughly deviated and a hallo that appeared around aircraft was produced by dust in the mirror. Now, I have to re-upload many pics to A.net, but will save money for a new SLR digital that I will buy someday...  Big thumbs up

I don't mean that your scanner isn't faulty but I will give it a try before throwing it away...

Both of the following shots are scanned with the same device, both originals were good but results are extremely different!

Staffan,

K14 is the name of the process used to develop Kodachrome films, (you may also have heard of the E-6 process in connection with Fuji, etc.). If you look on the side of a Kodachrome film, on [I think its] the black strip it says "Process K14". Other Kodachromes, like Ectachrome, use the E-6 process. I guess what I am trying to say, the long way round, is that if you scan Kodachrome you should use the K14 setting.

Yes, as Andy said, almost all types of slide film are E-6 processed.

Kodachrome is K14: it's a completely different process, this is why your KR's have to be sent to special laboratories and your local photoshop can't process them.

Good luck!

Toni
