What Kinda Shots Do U Like?

Fri Oct 05, 2001 5:07 am

Besides generally loving all kind of aviation photos,
as far as Im concerned, I specially like low altitude overview shots of airports or airport perimeters (fly by's, finals). Especially of some rather exotic airports - for example in South Asia (Pakistan India B'Desh Nepal S -Lanka). I also like overview shots if they come with precise descpription of heading and position.

So much for my fetish  Wink/being sarcastic

How about yours?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Cheers

My personal favorite shots are inside aircraft in the bone yard. It's just so interesting to see what happens to them once there days are up.

Retro-jets, in particular from the late 60s to the mid 80s.

As for action, I love 'threshold' shots where the plane is only seconds from touchdown, usually shot from behind and over the approach lights. I also like 'vapour' shots, where rain or mist is evident over the wings and the engines as a plane is roating or landing. Shots where you have dramatic backdrop ..i.e. a skylines (see Mark Garfinkel or Vasco Garcia's work from Boston), moutains (Andrew Hunt's shot from ZHR is a classic example of this), ect....Joe Pries and Michael Mclauglin's work from NYC's airports are first rate examples on how do shoot a classic 50mm profile shot.

Oh yeah, I kinda of like my modest collection.

Any out of the window pic is the best. I had made some with my camera on a National Airlines Boeing 757 with the engine in it but they rejected them They were really good though.

Any Artsy shots.

I especially like shots taken from higher up (say on the 30th Floor of a hotel instead of on the ground), just about every unusual shot that worked.

I don't like Crash Photos (boring), Side profiles (although they are a necessity).

Regards

I like the boneyard pics too.
shots of b757 noses @ angles are cool

I don't like nose shots of widebodies, the cockpit windows look weird.

I like sunset and night photos or photos of airliners showing trees etc. in spring and autumn.

I like those best:
