Dirty, Filthy Planes

Mon Oct 22, 2001 2:48 am

Just for fun, post the dirtiest, most poorly painted plane you have photographed. Here's mine. Pity it was overcast, I'm sure in the sunlight this plane would have caused stomachs to turn a mile around.

I don't think they actually painted this thing - I think they used whitewash!

Nice idea Charles, I think this one needs a new paint job. It's a very rare plane to be seen, from Sudan.

Maybe someone would like to show us the LTU 767 with the terrible c/s.

I know Ingo photographed it once  Big grin

guess they didn't care to wash this bird before they retired her....too bad...i wish i could've flown on a DL L10...just once...

hey what about the cleanest planes??? i would have to say the cleanest i've photographed was an AZ 742 at JFK..and lots of AA & DL (new colors) a/c...

Not nearly as filthy as Charles' An12.... but you'd think Delta would send off it's last L1011 to the graveyard clean. Oh well....

Keep them coming! We should petition Johan for a little corner of the site (or maybe a new category), called "Gallery of Horrors".

Andrew, It seems that everytime I see a CX A330 it is always filthy. Although not as filthy as the one you uploaded. Does CX like having dirty buses?

Hi all

No pics, but I have to say the KLMuk F100's can get very dirty, especially on the tail fin.

This Northworst DC-10 had a serious case of needing the white repainting, especially the section above the black...

Not dirty, but poorly painted. The color does not seem to be suitable, otherwise it would not flake off like that.

Take a look at the rear fuselage, you can see the paint coming off there. A friend which is working at VIE told me later that the plane had some kind of leak and therefore the colour wenbt off on this side. The other side looked fine.

Here is my contribution to the dirty planes group. This DL757 needs a wash job, bad. It must use 1-2% more fuel from added weight and drag.

Yup, nearly all Fokkers can get dirty in some way, and i always record that in the family albums the Britannia 732's were dirty around the rear of the cabin (on the outside  Big grin) from the engines.

It's only a model and I wouldn't go near it with a camera but the Concorde replica at LHR tunnel entrance must be the tattiest thing I have seen. Plus they have the nerve to stick "G-CONC" on it!!! Embarrassment

During its take off some alarm systems of the cars were activated because near the runway there is a parking lot.And also the picture was taken from a parking garage  Smile/happy/getting dizzy.

With the LTU B767, the paint has worn off. It isn't dirty per se. Some of the BA machines pre-new colours where worse; anyone remember G-BIKB prior to its repainting?
