My First Slides And First Shots With New Scanner

Thu Nov 15, 2001 4:29 am

Preface
------------------------------------------------------
No this aint a "Will these be accepted" topic so anyone who wants to moan about me using the a.net server can think again. I thought they were acceptable to be uploaded so thats why they are there
------------------------------------------------------

Right now that that's over with.......... Big grin
I've got my new Minolta DSII scanner and also got my first Fuji Sensia 100 slides back so I just thought I'd show you guys to see what you think the quality is like and if there is anythin that's needs to be addressed

I like the Ryanair and inflight wing shot a lot. Have you thought about using Fuji Provia 100f instead of Sensia? Sensia can get grainy as where Provia does not.

Martin,

Just had a look at two the FR738 is a great shot Big grin Its got a very slight blur to it and we all know about motion blur dont we  Big grin but I would add it!

The EuroX 146 is good too but I think that it may need a little bit more light to be accepted??

For first attempts pretty damn good though Big grin

Cheers

Martin,

What you've not said is whether you're pleased with the results, as that's more important than anything else.

Aside from that...

Corsair - might be rejected due to sloping horizon. To my way of thinking, it also needs a bit more sharpening (unsharp mask) though that might only be my preference

Ryanair - nicely, though maybe ditto the comments on unsharp (the reg looks slightly soft to me)

The rest - I'm at home and my dial up connection is too slow...  Big grin

Hi Martin

congrats to you r new scanner, I use the very same one, and so far am really happy with it.

I didn't look at all your pics here, but I like the Eurocross pic.

Besides: Funny to see "Eurocross" on the fuselage and "Crossair" on the engines  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I'm not happy with some of the negative scans that its come out with but I'm finding that that depends on the brand.

If anyone is interested here's a few of my first scans with slides. I'm very happy with slides scans but not neg scans

HI Martin,

Yup, I noticed your images had been accepted... Congrats, and I hope you get many more now. On the subject of negative scans, I haven't found the secret yet (mine always seem to be very grainy), but seeing as I hardly ever shoot print film I'm not too dismayed or even tempted to find out how to do it.
