Newbie Rejection

Thu Nov 15, 2001 6:17 am

I'll go ahead and apologize up front about posting an "I got rejected, ack.."question (Maybe that's what this forum is for though..I don't know..I'm new at all of this).

anyways... http://www.airliners.net/procphotos/rejphoto.main?filename=n864as_1.jpg

I haven't looked at this thing in about 3-4 weeks but I'm thinking the scan was bad (it was rejected b/c of low quality), is there anything that can be done digitally to help this out? (this was raw off the scanner and since I in no way, shape, or form have any graphic editing capabilities where PSP or Photoshop is concerned I left it instead of messing it up)

Any tips, tricks, or other help regarding this or any of my (hopefully) future "I can't take pictures of my dog, who the hell am I kidding trying airplanes" photos would be most appreciated..

thanks, Brian

OK, we've seen a lot worse 1st attempt rejections so don't despair. This shot can possibly be saved. There are two main problems 1- dust specs - remove these using the clobe tool. 2 - It's all a bit dark - especially the shadows. Increasing the gamma - either during the scan or after should help.

It might be a bit grainy, but the graininess is emphasised by the low gamma, and may disappear when you've brightened things up a bit.

Be prepared to spend some time learning how to use a graphics package properly. It is as important a tool as your camera and scanner. If you don't you will probably be frustrated in your attempts to upload. Buy one of the "Big Dummy" guides to your editor of choice, a spend some time experimenting. It's well worth the effort.

Cheers,

This ain't bad at all for a newbie rejection!

Here is a modification, i cut the bottom and edges off caus there was still a white background.

I think others could do a much better job, but this is just my modifications.
