Help Fixing Some Photos

Tue Jan 15, 2002 1:28 pm

Hi,

These are the shots rejected from my recent trip to Israel. I kindly ask for your advice to help fix them up.

Esthetics- Cabin at about 4 am-- over Augusta (read the map in Hebrew  Wink/being sarcastic

While in Newark awaiting departure... I thought it looked cool

Swiss Alps while at FL370-- shot 1 of 2 "... If something like a wing was in these, I would have HQ'd them... great shots!" - screener (that makes me feel worse than a flat out rejection in some ways... they really would have had a chance...

Shot 2 of 2

From August, 2000. I know that this has been in the forum a million times, but I quote from the uploads page: "Rare photos - easy to get accepted" This is one of 7 DHC-7s in the fleet, and the only one in these colors. I don't believe it has ever flown OUTSIDE of Israel. I mentioned that in the remarks. Plus, I personally don't think it is too low in quality

Also not this trip... UAL A320 out of EWR (right before the cop came to yell at me)

Amsterdam, 2001 (april)

5,000 feet at 350 m/h in a 747... EWR at night... Doesn't want to sharpen much... speed blur???

These are all from landing in Tel Aviv. They are over/underexposed. Should I brighten/darken them? The sun was shining at me, so I used the shadows to my advantage (or so I thought). One just like the first got uploaded recently:

Hi,
I don't think there is anything you can do to either of the last three to get them accepted here. Taking photos against the sun is a bad recipe.

The one taken inside the cabin features people, so there is no point in trying to get that accepted on a.net.

The one through the window at night... I see a winglet, half an a/c and a bright light that I don't know what it is. Getting shots of partial a/c shot in good conditions accepted is hard enough, so getting one shot through a window, at night with a winglet covering it would be even harder.

On the shots of the alps I have to agree with the screener, they would have made fantastic backgrounds for a wingshot, but as they are now, there's really no subjuct in them.

The VISA tail shot, it's low in quality.

UAL A320, again a shot against the sun.

The Croatian Airlines tailshot I like the composition of, it would have been even better if it filled the whole frame. To get nose- or tailshots accepted, they have to be super high quality, so they are difficult.

The EWR nightshot is blurry because of the low shutterspeed, taking these kind of photos is very difficult, that is why there are so few of them on a.net

When you take photos, always have the sun behind you, and think about what it is you want to show with your photo. Start with taking basic photos of a/c taxiing and try to fill the frame.

Good luck!
