Okay, there seems to be a lot of interest in this camera. In an effort to provide as much usable info as possible, I here now continue my observations regarding my new 707:
Having spent the morning at ORD yesterday in beautiful sunlight, I have discovered potential 'serious' flaw to this camera: the colors. No matter what I did, what settings I used, the images either had a slight blue or red cast to them. Nothing like the infamous "Kodachrome color shift" in old slides, but enough to irk me. Yes, these issues are easily solved in Photoshop - but it's a bummer to have to expect that I will have to do some bit of post-processing on every image I take. Does anybody know how to turn down the effect of the white-balance settings? The sunlight setting is too red. The incadescent is too blue. Grr...
Don't get me wrong - I'm still very happy with this camera. The resolution is outstanding for a camera in this price range, and the big/bright/fast lens is a lifesaver. But, I already know why I will be getting rid of this camera when the time comes. Those damn colors.
On another note, I heard Nikon is expected to announce a mid-range digital SLR next month at PMA. Something better than the CP5000, but not quite a D1X. If that happens, my F707 is for sale.
