The NW Cargo is by far the best. The others are a little iffy and lack that true sharpness.

In my opinon, in most of them, the aircraft does quite fill the better portion of the picture, which is why they were probably rejected. Also, bad angles.

How do you find your rejected photos like you did?

Shawn, do you mean that I should crop out more of the non-plane parts of the photos?

As for angles, do you mean that I should try to upload side-on views only?

To find your rejected photos, just copy the link I posted above, and just change the file name to the file name of your photo.

Hkg_clk,

Here is why I think your photos were rejected:
  1. too blurry, sky shows sign of grain
  2. too blurry, the tail section looks strange (lines are ditched)
  3. too blurry, not level (the plane looks bended)
  4. a bit blurry at the rear section, there seems to be no colours on the picture (almost black & white)

Hope this helps,

They look great.

Lets go back and look at the photos in the database, I'm sure there are thousands that are worse then these.

they look to be a tiny bit overexposed, but toherwise they're pretty good.

1,2,3: not quite as sharp as they should be, but there's not much in it. Perhaps heat haze is playing a part in this lack of sharpness? Without exception they are leaning to the right. The colours also seem a little "muddy"

As to the Northwest 747 - I like the shot, the framing is great, but the colours seem to be very dull indeed. Try increasing the contrast and colour saturation on this shot to see if you can improve it that way.

Thanks for all your comments. I have tried all kinds of settings but cannot get any sharper shots. It was a little hazy, but not too bad that day (Hong Kong is always hazy!). Do you think maybe there's something wrong with my camera? Or could it be due to the fact that I was shooting with max zoom (i.e. 10x at 370mm)? (I use Canon's Pro90, settings were exposure compensation -1/3, saturation high, sharpness and contrast normal).
