Lens Question - Canon

Sat Feb 23, 2002 3:20 am

Can anyone comment on the now somewhat older 80-200 ƒ2.8 L EF lens? I'm not very familiar with this lens except that the 70-200 replaced the one mentioned, however I heard the optics were good. Also AF speed would be a concern as older technology wasn't really geared towards fast focus. If there are any examples of photos taken using this lens I would very much appreciate a link or two.

Thanks all

Optically a superb lens - and I've heard that there are some bargains to be had now since the release of the new 70-200 - haven't seen any myself tho  Smile

Funnily enough I saw a used (mint) model today retailing at UK£580 - good price for fast L glass. It confirms the rumours I've heard about people trading it in for the IS 70-200mm.

Cheers,
