Nikkor 70-300 F4/5.6

Tue Feb 26, 2002 4:02 am

Hello guys. I just have the Nikkor 70-300 f4/5.6 for my F5. I am going to get a few other lenses also.

I would like to know your thought about this lense, I bought it brand new on ebay, but didn't notice it was not a USA model, thats why it was only like $170. I have shot one roll with this lense. The images look good, but will the scanning be different with this lense?

I have been scanning a few of my slides, but the are grainy especially if I scan st low resolution, if I scan in high the file is 20 MB or so, but to big for airliners. Can I resize it with that quality in photoshop, or Corel photopaint?

Comments appreciated,

Dmitry Kudryn.

Does the USA model and non-usa matter in quality?

Hi

If you can effort the Nikon F5, why not go for the 80-200 2.8 Nikkor and a 300 4.0 Nikkor??

This lens performs quite nicely. The shot below was taken with it on an F100 with Fuji Provia 100F.

There is no physical difference between a US and non-US version of this lens. The only difference is that with the US version, Nikon USA got the chance to rip more money out of you!!

Dimitry,

quite expensive plans for the future! Big grin

What do exactly mean with non-US version? If it is a European or Japanese one it is OK, as N949WP said, but if it is a grey market model you might get trobles as there is no guarantee on it.

Kind regards,
