How Reliable Is The UK Weather In July/August?

Sun Apr 07, 2002 12:21 am

I'm planning to go to London around late July/early August. What are the chances of good weather for photography around LHR/LGW etc?

The chances of getting sun in the UK/Ireland at that time of year about as good as getting snow in Hawaii at the height of Winter.

The weather in the UK is very reliable. It will change every 5 minutes and you are certain of having rain.  Smile

On my last two trips over there we had bright sun, warm temps and about half a day of rain. As soon as we left it rained for 2 weeks solid.  Smile

BTW it does snow in Hawaii....Some great skiing up on the volcanos.  Smile

UK weather at any time of the year is reliable in changing rapidly, without any warning and thus providing an unending topic for conversation. If you go to London do carry your raincoat when you go spotting.

But also carry your sunblock...

The London weather is indeed famous for being reliably unpredictable.
Whatever you predict it will do something else.

July/August should be OK, I should think you should get the majority of days sunny and around 22/23 degrees.

All I can say is: It rains one time a day in England, but the sun shines every day too!  Insane Let's hope and pray for some sunshine, I'll be there too! Ciao Blackbird1
I'd rather be flying!
