Help With Identifying A Plane/Airline

Sat Apr 13, 2002 8:07 pm

Hi,

I took this picture of Heathrow airport a week ago.
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/LHR2.jpg
I can recognize nearly all the plane, except one.
I marked it with a little red dot.
If I wouldn't know better I would say it's a Jetblue A320.
Your thoughts please!

Thank you,

Daniel

It could be a BMI A320

No clue what it could be, but you dont expect the photo to be accepted? Do you?
I would clean the slide, negative and scan it again, to get rid of that hair and dust.

I don't think the proportions is correct for an A320, or even any narrow-body a/c, it looks like a widebody with 4 engines (compare with the BA 747's in the foreground), but it got a shorter fuselage, I go for a Syrianair 747SP.

It's definitely a widebody. Could be an Egyptair 777 or A340 or 747(although if it is, I don't know what it's doing there, taxying that way, unless it was going the long way round to T3 after landing on rwy 09L). The colours are very vague - so it could be a Saudi 777 - but again, I don't know why it would be where it is.

I think we need a better scan if you really want it identifying.

When I was at Heathrow in August 2001, Syrianair parked their 747SP at the T2-gate which is easily visible from carpark 2, which is pretty close to the spot the unidentified a/c is at in this photo.

thanks for your responses.
after you suggestions the most likely one seems to be the Syrian 747SP.
We landed short afterwards on 9L and I saw a Syrian 747Sp waiting for line-up for 9R.
Can that be?
Rescanning wouldn't give better results regarding the quality of the plane, maybe I'll re-upload it once I removed some dust with Paint Shop.

Thank you!

Daniel
