This is actually the second version of this shot I have had on A.net. I reuploaded this image, which show the subject a little farther away and with better focus. I did this to show a little more of the BOS environment and to include more of that great smoke. So, those of you who may have downloaded the first edition, which is no longer available, have a collectors piece.
Unfortunately, like most of my images taken with my old Sun 190-430mm zoom, it isn't tack sharp. Also, there is another problem with the image. This was taken on a cold January morning with a Minolta SRT-101, and predictably, there is light drop-off on the right half of the Kodachrome slide due to sluggish shutter. If anyone knows how to correct this problem on the computer, let me know. as I have a few more I would like to fix. (I have Corel Photopaint 7.0)
I may be getting a slide scanner before long, so I may rescan this shot yet again for a 3rd edition. (Now there's a teaser!)
Speaking of hits. Sometimes it feels like I'm playing to the wrong crowd here. I upload an shot of a operational B-52G (Only a few of those on this site), and in the same time frame, another contributor uploads a bunch of scrapped B-52G shots. One of his shots, virtually a chunk of the nose of a B-52, almost unrecognizable, gets 4 times the hits that my shot gets.
Something going on here I just don't understand.
