It makes no sense, but this is the peoples republic of Hawaii, and they just love their power. I doubt It'll change in HNL for some time. If you do go out lagoon drive to take pics and are caught, count on getting your film destroyed (at least) and maybe your camera taken away too. Aloha.
Since when is it no longer one of the united states!! Since when do they have extra power? Now i know you're just being facetious, but seriously, people's republic of my left nut, this is still america and i know alot of hawaiians dont like that but tough sh*t.
What a story though, like i mentioned earlier in the post, i flashed my airport ID (which happens to be from Indiana!! haha) and confidently said "yeah, i'm going to the continental hangar" and they let me right through the checkpoint. I went to the end and took some pictures, then i snuck across the bushes on the east side of the road (some of you know what im talking about) and even set up a tripod, but i was pretty careful not to get caught.
Also, you may have noticed at the security checkpoints leading into the concourses a small drawing of a camera with a red circle and slash through it.
YES! i saw this and since there is really no explaination, they can use that sign for whatever "picture taking" they want to regulate.

anyway, as i mentioned earlier... Anyone who spends a decent amount of time in Hawaii will discover it's warm, rich, socialistic tendancies which does not bid well for spotters.
Well I say "Go for it hawaii!!" seperate yourself from the shelter of the USA and become a communistic little utopia!! Watch your economy spin into nothing, watch your island turn into a colony of dictatorship, crime, and chaos.
Aloha and Mahalo,
