People In Pictures....what's The Deal Nowadays?

Tue Jul 09, 2002 4:28 pm

Hello,

I guess you know where I am coming from, I just uploaded this picture and it was rejected for
-----------------------
"You need permission from the people pictured on the photo to be
allowed to publish it. Generally we do not accept photos with
people on them as our database is primarily for airliners. There
are some exceptions though."
---------------------------

Well what's the deal here? Never had a problem with these kind of pictures.....
looked at it again and come on, there is no way that you can clearly identify one of the passengers........

As has been often said, screeners make mistakes, that's why there's an appeal process  Smile. But before you do appeal, the 1st shot is definitely blurry (turbulence?  Smile and possibly dark. The 2nd shot is OK, but borderline on the question of "people". 3rd shot is possibly a bit dark.

Cheers,

Colin

Colin,

pretty good eye, for the first one, yes there were turbulence at FL370, I was just about to return to the seat after taken that picture. That is the best I could do.....

Anyway, will probably appeal, but still wanted to have your opinions, as I still have a cabin shot of a UA 763 at home and would like to upload that as well.

Vasco,
I think that there is more leeway with people shots these days. I have seen several similar to this lately. A good excuse to show off the spectator park at MAN.

What if the people in the pictures you took are of VIP. Such as John Travolta or President Bush?

Do we need to get a personal permission from them?

where there are also no people clearly to be identified. So i applied the same (I think) to yours. If i remember corrextly there was a FA standing in the aisle facing towards the camera is this right, i cant see the image when i open your link.

Peter,

nope!
No f/a standing in the aisle or any other passenger......faces were not visible at all.
What you might be referring to is an earlier shot I submitted, this was were the f/a was standing in the aisle.

But even with that one, the face of the f/a was not visible as it was blurred due to low shutter speed and movement by the f/a.

Anyway, I appealed the shot and I guess I have to wait what the big boss has to say.
