I'd say Singapore Changi ( Big thumbs up), Tokyo-Narita, Bangkok.

Singapore has a MRT system, and a lot of taxis!!! There is a bus system too.

Hi Marcel,

I had planned to write you about that spot, I was there (again) in July this year and yes it's there but...... for how long???? I think this summer is the last opportunity to come there also the place is hard to find nowadays because of new buildings. I think the place would be add to the cargo center of the airport.

So hurry up.

Kind Regards, George Polfliet

Guys. mentioning Japanese airports in not what Michael asked for.

Beijing is a great airport and as George points out, if the spot at the lineup still is accessable this is one of the best spots worldwide for aviation photography. The sun is in the back most of the time and aircraft taxi by close. There are a lot of interesting airlines to be seen, a lot of them cannot be seen outside China. The movements are steady, not a dull moment (at least this was the situation two years ago) and the airport police, or rather the military, will not bother you. There might be smog at hot days which makes the light not the best. In winter, around January/ February it was not a problem. Taxi's are relatively cheap in China, there is a good hotel close to the airport.

I am not sure if you still can get apron permission at Bangkok airport. Bangkok is nice but the light can be a bit of a problem when at the apron.

regards,
Marcel

This subject reminds me of Kai Tak... nothing came even close to beating that airport when it came to fabulous Asian spotting and no car required. But oh well... she's gone now and sorely missed. Speaking of Kai Tak... where's Andy Hunt these days??

1stspotter.... How can I know if you can get around those airports by car? I am just naming some of the better airports you can spot at. And I am waiting for some other members to give him the update on the car issue...

Just remind you that be sure you have enough cold drink while you take photos in Beijing. The temperature is about 40C in Beijing this season. You won't need a pan to cook an egg  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Visit Beijing in October would be a better idea.

You do not need a car at Kansai - the authorities run a shuttle bus to the visitor centre which if the traffic pattern is favourable will allow some good landing shots.

4. Manila
5. Taipei

In Summer
1. Indonesia

I think the weather is the issue if wanting to go to SIN/KUL..

Hey Carlos,

Here I am!!!!! Still around, and active in some other posts. Just have been away on holiday and business for the last five weeks, hence no activity. But I'm back!!!

Regarding good airports in Asia, I would recommend SIn, obviously!! Also good is Shanghai Hongqiao.

Regards

Andrew

Sorry forgot to mention another great airport I have been to is Osaka Itami, from outside the very low fence, you get 50mm= B777-300 touch down in front of you! or a 75mm =B777-200 touch down, very smokey!!!

OK here is my experience there:

Osaka Itami is sadly only domestic airport now, still can imagine before KANSAI, all the Int'l traffic hang around there.

Sam

Also in my opinion, Osaka Kansai is only good for Summer light up the deck, you need they land on Rwy24 to hit the deck right, 06 is not the spotter friendly Rwy.

Hongqiao may sound interesting, but Beijing have most things on offer, weather wise are better in fall /winter season if you dont mind cold, but blue sky wise.

BKK
KUL (around the airport is very hard without a car but inside the terminal it is worth but there are only glasses, access to the airport within 28min from downtown with the new KLIA Express Train from KL Sentral)
SIN
BJS
HKG
TPE and especially TSA (Taipei Domestic Airport is great!)
