Photo Accepted But....

Wed Sep 11, 2002 5:43 am

I've just had this photo accepted today...but was wondering if it was, in peoples opinions, too sharp?

I love the pic, but can't help but think it's too sharpened... If this the sharpness thats expected then great!

I'd be inclined to agree - its not oversharpened in the sense of getting jaggies, but it has a slight artificial sharpness which is so common in digital images - whether scanned or digi cam. It's sort of an enhanced look that you don't get with film.

But I think its more a matter of taste rather than a technical fault. Others go for a softer look with their images which is not exactly blurry, but again different from film - I think this is great stuff - digital imagery should be more than just trying to imitate film ... it should be finding its own look and feel.

In a few years, I'm guessing that film will be considered as having a quaintly old fashioned feel!
