I am just going to tell you the warbirds are all over the place, visit Oshkosh or Sun n Fun you would be amazed at the sheer number that there are (and those are many a fraction of the ones out there, heck some of the guys that fly in own more than one war bird
) Just about every airfield in Florida that I have been to has at least one, most have several.
Fun fun fun plane to fly, real responsive. It has no angle of incedence, so it flies just as well right side up as upside down. The roll rate is fantastic (360+/sec), vertical penetration is ok, more than enough for advanced a little lacking in unlimited. At least thats what I hear, I fly a little aerobatics for fun. But because of money issues I only judge the routines, because I can't afford to practice enough to stay competion current. Though I want to get a Super D or a Citabria and do sportsman on a regular basis.
When you leave Alaska and maybe come to Florida, you will see a whole new world of GA. I highly suggest visiting Spruce Creek (6FL0) in Port Orange, FL on a Saturday morning (about 8:00am). Its just a site to behold. Taildraggers, Cessnas, Beechs, and warbirds, all departing at the same time, in many small formations, all going to get breakfast. I have flown with those guys a couple of times, some of these guys formation skills are military trained, very precise.
At worst, you screw up and die.
