A New "Tomcat Flying Really Fast" Photo.

Sat Oct 05, 2002 10:36 am

Check it out. I'd love to see a higher-res version of this image:

Let's avoid the whole "He's breaking the sound barrier!/No he's not!" argument and simply enjoy the photograph shall we?...  Wink/being sarcastic

And we have a winner.

I was hoping at least one person would take the bait and try to claim it was an E-2.

COPYRIGHT VIOLATION......

Dripstick has broken copyright laws by copying the original photo from the SeattlePI website to another website (his own), removing the photo id (caption line and photo credit) and then reposting this photo on the A.net website.

ExitRow has handled this correctly by only posting the LINK to the original photo site.

If we as photographers for Airliners.net continually rant and rave about copyright violations when other people and websites illegally copy A.net photos without permission, why do we accept it when an A.net person does the same thing? Will Dripstick pay compensation to the original site when they send him an invoice for their photo usage? Will Johan and A.net?

I am asking for this photo to be removed for Copyright Violation and have suggested Deletion.

Please let us all RESPECT the same courtesies that we expect others to show with our photography.

Thank You

Sorry, didn't realize a "joke" image would offend.

The original image is obviously so stunning that some would immediately call it a fake...AS USUAL!

I was playing off of that.

I'll keep my humour away from this forum altogether.

Stephen,

Dripstick has been part of the A.net community for some time now and while I agree with you on the copyright issue, I wish you'd handled it a little differently. A suggest deletion and a personal e-mail was in order, not a public scolding. Dripstick is an excellent photographer, works in the aviation industry and a really, really good guy. He contributes to the forums regularly and probably has the best sense of humor (humour) on this web site. If you've spent any time here you'd know that.

My point is that his intentions were nothing but GOOD. Unlike the people who truly do violate copyright maliciously for profit. Legally, a cease and desist would be all he'd get. So let's try and keep this positive and maintain a friendly community here guys. Let's not turn into sharks in a frenzy where we begin biting each other.

Dripstick, don't EVER keep your humor (humour eh?) away from this forum. PLEASE!

I never got to see the image in question as I've been away form my computer. Was it even funny?  Smile

To ExitRow and DripStick:

My apologies. Perhaps I was somewhat hasty in my reply and of course William, you are correct in stating that there was a much better way to handle this as you have suggested.

Hopefully someday I will get both feet out of my mouth... instead of just opening it to change feet !!!

See how CrAzY the damn CoPyRiGhT issues makes us.

Sorry guys: I want to be a valued member of this community and in the future, will take a deep breath.... count to several thousand..... and then his the post message button.
