What To Do?

Sat Oct 12, 2002 10:29 am

These pics (linked below) are rejected several times. What do you think?
Is the quality to low, the subject not interesting enough, a lost case, ...Can they be improved?
If so I drop the pics and move on.

Thx guys for all advice!

Kind regards,

Daniel, What reasons were given for rejection? (and what do you mean "rejected several times" That is an issue for screeners...)

Photo 1 is iffy. The angles are odd when I look at it. It is level, but gives the impression of being off. Ramp shots like this are difficult to get accepted.

Photo 2 is a loser because of the light pole in the way. Really detracts from the shot.

Photo 3 I personally like, but it is a bit on the soft side I think. (People with better editing skills can help you more on this.)

Photo 4...ehhhhhh.

Don't be discouraged, just keep working on your skills and success will come.

One thing I'm noticing is the photos are grainy, and the chromatic abberation is out of control. What camera are you using? I'm guessing it's a C-700?

Shawn pointed something out to you about the chromatic aberation (purple fringe) that appears in your photo. I must admit that first photo has an extreme case. I checked the database for some other photos of yours to see if it was there as well. It is, but not as bad. Has the camera been dropped? Now I am not sure if it is true, but I read somewhere that it can be caused by some alignment problems aggrevated by a sudden jolt.

I do see the grain as well. Are you shooting those in HQ mode vs. SHQ? I only rarely see the fringing on my C-700, and only under very contrasty situations. I can see it in Sony, Nikon, Canon and other digital cameras as well, but not to that extent. On some of those cameras it is more of a green fringe.

May be worth a trip to the dealer to get it checked out.

Hi Daniel!!

1) Nice caption!!  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up About the picture, please have a look at the 'Iran Air' titles, and see how blue-purple they are. It's a typical Olympus problem! I also have a C2100, and I am experiencing exactly the same.

2) I would say a bit oversharpened, maybe some less contrast would look good, and especially the lamp post (or what is it) is in the way.

3) Oversharpened, and some more contrast would be nice.

4) Very grainy.

A question for you Daniel: which program do you use to edit your pictures? Because those are the same problems (especially the IB) that I had when I was using Microsoft Photo Editor.

I strongly recommend photoshop or something equal.
