Photo Storage?....many Many Rolls!

Mon Oct 14, 2002 11:53 am

Hi Team!.

Got a quick question...

Its now getting to the point where i have hundreds and hundreds of photos packets all over the place and want to know if anyone out there has come across any sort of shelf or box or anything that you can buy to store them all in????...

I still shoot print and then scan with my flatbed scanner, so i have all these packs of photos lying around everywhere!!!......and im starting to lose track of them all.....

Any help of this would be appreciated!.

Regards

You think that's a problem. Wait till you shoot and have to save onto CD or DVD  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I bought some rubbermaid containers from Kmart (I'm sure theres a similar department type store in Melbourne) that are specifically for photos, fits over 30 packets in one container.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

They're still pretty unorganized though in terms of being labeled and knowing whats inside... I'll get around to that the day I get a negative scanner.

I have the same problem on my computer, all of my photos are saved with non-descriptive filenames like 12.4 or something scattered throughout hundreds of folders. If my harddrive crashes I'm screwed! I better burn them all soon...

if you (or someone else in your family) buys a lot of shoes, you can the boxes from those.
That's what I usually do (when I have boxes that is). The negatives are stored in binders using special sleeves that are crossreferenced to a serial number I write on the package.
I also sort the prints before storing them, throwing away half or more typically. Saves a lot of space.

Used to have the same problem a few years back - hundreds of packets of prints.

Solved problem by storing them in a round metal bin, and bought a neg/slide scanner  Smile

On a more serious note, I hope you are storing the negs separately in proper negative sleeves - leaving them in the print packets is going to lead to scratches, loss or other damage sooner or later.

Cheers,
