Ok...my turn. This looks like fun.
Before I get to the shots though I'll say this, and this is directed at everyone who is still fairly new to this hobby.
There was a time when what I now know to be seriously soft and really quite horrid shots really did look, to my then untrained eye, damn sharp! I look at them now and cringe. Those shots obviously aren't here to view and it was some time before I had my first shot accepted. I used to get pretty mad at the constant rejections but with time I got there...now approaching 600 shots in the database.
I suppose the message is that we all improve over time and if you are prepared to spend a little time and to listen to advice available from many here (special thanks here to Gary Watt who helped me enormously in those early days!) then you will eventually reach the required standard.
I still have bad days when I just delete a shot in disgust after trying to get it just right in PhotoShop...but these days I just relax and move on to the next shot - some shots just weren't meant to be.
Ok...I've bored you enough...now for the killer blow...
My first shot on the left taken back in March 2000 and scanned from a slide (don't remember what brand but probably Fuji Sensia), the most recent on the right, D60 digital
As much as there is a dramatic improvement in quality I'm still striving for better
