Am I Missing The Merits Of This Photo?

Am I missing something beautiful about this photo? I'm really not trying to be rude by bringing this up, but hopefully someone can explain why a photo like this would be accepted in the database. I'm assuming perhaps it has something to do with the position of the sun, but that seems to be the only thing that stands out. I wouldn't have even been able to tell it was a Delta plane until I read the description.

(Note: I'm really not trying to diss Rudy here! All of the other photos I've seen by him have been outstanding.)

One question; have you ever heard of the words aesthetic or artistic? thats what this is, an aircraft over the sun taken with a fast shutter speed so it appears darker than it actually was, and a nice sillhoutte of the aircraft and skyline (sort of Big grin).

Its a really nice picture.

I love artsy shots. Nothing wrong with the one above. Great timing and imagination.

Here is a recent Rejection. I like the sky, but I guess you can't make out the REG#. Insane

That IS a nice shot - something above "here is another pic of a plane" - OK its a bit abstract, but for me at least it says more about air travel than a whole database full of 50mm ramp shots.

As a suggestion though I'd like to see how this would look in a vertical crop and loosing much of the right hand side of the pic ... think it would make a nice cover!

Dripstick - I think that shot has potential - the problem is that it is very dark throughout. If you could lift the sky a bit - a simple adjustment in curves - it could be a stunning image.

Cheers,

Colin

Colin,

It was rejected for badscanbadmotiv, so probably no amount of adjusting will make a difference.

Thanks anyway.
