Sigma SD9 Review

Thu Nov 14, 2002 10:44 am

"Resolution is indeed higher than one would expect from a 3.4 megapixel sensor, but not quite on a par with the current crop of 6 megapixel SLRs from Canon, Fuji, and Nikon."

Plus I have to add, the thing sure looks "cheap."

Well *ehhem*,

it IS cheap. That is the point of Sigma. With an MSRP of 1799 and an undoubtably plumetting price as with all sigma's, it is very very very cheap.

You have to realize that this is new technology. While a 6 megapixel sensor will still deliver more detail from Sigma's new 3.4 megapixel sensor, if (when) that sensor is increased to 6 megapixels, it will put the current 6 megapixel sensors to shame.

It is actually 3 separate 3.4 mp sensors "stacked" on top of each other. Each sensitive to it's own color. Better? Time will tell. From the review, it looks like the camera has it's problems.
