Any Chance For For A.net?

Fri Nov 15, 2002 10:20 am

Hi,

After 3 or 4 times rejected: Has it any chance to get accepted?
If yes, how. I tried everything....  Sad

Well, I can see why the second one was rejected. Every time I browse the pics at this site I see a photo that looks just like that one. So probably just to common place. I don't know what else. The first one I definately can't explain though. That one is pretty cool. Doesn't make sense that they'd reject that one.

Daniël, you really have to explain me how you get those sharp images on your C2100  Wow!  Wow!

Really, how do you do this? Do you take them in 'a-mode' with the highest possible diafragma?

Both pictures look very good I find. The C130 is really spectacular!!!!

Xenon:

Hi,

The first one looks a bit blurry or so. The second one looks a bit grainy on the dark parts of the image. That's just my comment.

But, I wouldn't bother too much. I uploaded 85 pics or so a couple of days ago, all take at LHR featuring nice aircraft, and almost all of them got rejected (some of them badscan, others badcommon,...). Pretty funny huh? I must say I'm kinda dissapointed (who wouldn't be, it took me almost 6 hours or so to upload them all).

It's hard to get standard shots accepted nowadays. They almost have to be over-perfect...But hey, it's their website, so we'll have to deal with that, won't we?

Ivan, only 6 shots accepted out of all what you uploaded??  Wow! And this with a D60??

Well, I am sure that you feel very dissapointed now, but don't forget this: you have already 60 pictures accepted in the very short time that you take pictures. Most people (like me) needed a lot more time to get them accepted.

But I also find it very very sad that standard shots are almost not accepted anymore. I mean, if the quality is ok, why not accept it? The more (good) pictures of a plane, the better!

Look, Sabena shots are almost not uploaded anymore these days. If I see that of some aircrafts only 15 shots are accepted, I find this very sad. That's why I find the 'badcommon' rejection a bit stupid.

If you upload an OK picture, it would be nice to see it accepted IMO...

Look, don't understand me wrong: I didn't buy a digital camera to be able to upload pictures to a.net, but I like to upload them. If you take pictures only to have them on your HD, it's ok for yourself, but I like to show my pictures to other people also, and I have no time to run a website...

Isn't this actually why we all upload: to show our pictures to other people? That's what makes me proud, if I have one accepted...

I just love aviation, and I love the pictures here on the database. But it has to stay a hobby. Don't expect that everyone takes pictures with D60/D100 and makes special artistic shots with it... Standard shots are not for everyone boring.

Frederic

Frederic,

I try to shoot with the fastest shutter speed possible.

I hope that all people with a C2100 camera, still can upload images that
gets accepted.
Think it will be more and more difficult to stay on A.net...  Sad

The best,

Daniel

Hi again,

I've been thinking about this. And, after all, maybe I should be happy that so many shots I too at LHR got accepted, because the weather really was bad (well, it was raining most of the time and the sky was overcast, so no sun).

Bt it still is rather dissapointing to see that so many good pics get rejected because of the 'badcommon' thing. But hey, we'll just have to deal with that I guess.

Yes, taking aviation pictures is a hobby and we do it for ourselves (that's why I started to do this in the first place: I like it!), but now we have such a huge medium to share our pics with the world, why not try and make the most out of it?

Maybe they should split the database into two sections: supreme and basic? Who knows?

Perhaps a split under 3 MP and above 3 MP?

Hi Daniël,

How do you select your shutter speed on your C2100?

Thanks,
Frederic

Frederic,

Just set the C2100 in S-mode;
Then you select with the "cursors" the best shutterspeed.

The thing to do is to your own screening and only upload the very best. I can guarantee that you will get less stuff rejected.
One thing to remember, is that a photo taken during overcast conditions stands about 99% less chance getting onto this site than its equivalent taken in good light.

I think if we multiply 15 by the number of individual aircraft easily photographable this week and then take account of others that are coming and going, being repainted, leased out, broken up, newly delivered and so on, and apply this over the months and years, I can understand why there has to be a limit. I hope that the screeners would also take into account the artistic merits of the shot and how its taken also. If you have something different, and its technically good, I would say it should be considered for acceptance.

As for the need to have your images on the web when you cannot get them on a.net, don't forget there are others places to put them for free. I can think of two general photo album sites that can do this. I won't mention the names, but the general ones at least are sometimes mentioned in users profiles.
