Why Must People Be So Stressed - The Sequel

Thu Jan 09, 2003 11:38 am

I laud Clovis and others who share the aviation passion, spotting and photography!

The post by Clovis caught my eye because I had just opened two hate mails with tonnes of insults pertaining to the two images below:

I am certain that this person is online here and reading, and just wish to say that if he does not like a picture, just don't download it.

There is a recent spate of such hate-mails received by one other photographer I know . . . and comparing these mails, I can detect several common indications of where this person is based and who he is.

Does anyone else receive e-abuse for their images posted?

Is it not sad when some idiot has to come along and insult you for your work? (beautiful photos by the way...) But the internet sometimes allows fools to hide in anonimity.

All you can do is ignore the stupid letters and keep enjoying what you do. Let the other guy live in his self created hell. Keep shooting and posting.

Cheers Tony

Probly for the image quality. However, the backdrop makes the image quality not an issue....quite a shot. I've always loved scenes like that, where the foreground is bright, but the background is dark as hell in daylight.

Thanks Tony and USAir_757,

for your comments and thoughts. While such mails does create a little disturbance, I derive far greater enjoyment from others who share their positive experiences . . . and the greatest thrill is when I meet other A.net photographers in person during our travels.

Anonimity . . . not sure. A friend has just shown me that is is possible to trace the two hatemails to a university in a European country (deliberately left unspecific just so that others from the same university are not unknowingly offended or similar branded).

In the short span of 20 minutes of dark brewing angry clouds (it poured in buckets thereafter), I had the greatest aviation photo moments . . . shooting through a fence makes it quite a challenge when the shutter speed drops dramatically . . . but it was just great fun.

I had different mails already, but so far no hate mails. The most enjoyable ones were, when a friend of mine happened to be in one aircraft, which I took a picture from during take off (SWISS MD-11) and another one, when the pilot of a Belair aircraft, wrote me, that he was flying his first commercial flight on exactly that flight which I captured on film ... errr ... on megabytes.

But I can't understand, why somebody would write hate mails because of a picture. I like them both, specially the 2nd one.

A while ago I frequently received hate emails, mostly due to my remarks under the photos. But it's been a while since.

KC, was it by a certain Mr. Lee WenJun? If it is, ignore him. I've received mail from him, so has Tsentsan. Well, at least you have many more other people who appreciate your work on Airliners.net

Finally got around today to catching up on the forum chatter I've missed out on in the last couple weeks.... read this particular thread and two phrases stand out to mind here regarding a.net hate email.

"Jealousy is the root of all evil"

"Jealousy brews hatred"

Everything to do with senseless hate-mails is: Ignore, delete. Any other comments welcome, no question.

I recently had a very nice mail , sent by a DL captain. I shot his retirement flight MUC-ATL prior to departure on Oct. 26, 2002. Not a great, even not a real good photo, but for him a special one. Some relatives notified him of the MUC-ATL photo and the date - so he wrote. Nice event for me.
