Nice shot indeed, must have been cold though Smile
Too cold for me to ride my bike and stand in the open for a few hours, last time I did that I had to defrost in the badtub to get my temperature up.
It does allow you to take some nice shots though.

taxiway S2 must be runway 06/24.
Never been there, I don't know how to get there without a car.

With the train/bus I can only go to the spottingdeck and the spotting location at McDonalds.

What a great shot indeed! Can't wait to pay my next little visit to AMS. Guess I'll have to wait untill April at least, in order to have a good amount of daylight...

Well, and cold it was that day! I guess it was about -4 degrees celsius and the wind made it even worse. At the end of the day I even couldn't move my toes anymore  Smile But the afternoon light was really awesome so it was worht it.

Karlok,

It's not so difficult to get to that spot. Outside the terminal there is a big bus-platform. There are two busses that stop near the 06-24. Take bus 179 or 191. You exit at busstop "Rozenburg Aalsmeerderweg". Walk a couple of meters and take the first left. Now you're walking on the "Aalsmeerderweg". Walk straight ahead till you reach the parking. The walk will take 10 - 15 minutes.

Maybe we should all meet up sometime at 06/24 in the weekend or something.
Although I prefer the classic approach shot when 06 is in use, you can get great impressionshots alongside the runway as well.

Karlok: why don't you buy some cheap bike for 25 euros, and stall it near Plaza.
You can use it to get to some other places, and make full use of the great opportunities at AMS. I actually prefer my bike to a car, much easier to get around and you never get hassled for parking, etc. Just a little cold Big grin

Yeah,

I allready emailed Miguel about that shot and also suggested we shoot all meet up at AMS again... (not until i have the camera)

Wietse

ps.

Bike IS the best way to get around here at AMS... The most sneaky places are only open to you when you are on a bike....  Wink/being sarcastic

Right Wietse, some of the best shots we took were only possible cause we were on our bikes. Whenever there's a good day in the weekend I'm up for some shooting.

It's ridiculous, but I once walked around Schiphol  Nuts It was about 3 years ago. I was taking pictures along the 06-24 on a Saturday and decided to get back to the viewing deck. Unfortunately there was a gap in the bus schedule. There was no bus service from 1pm till 3pm. So I walked to the MacDonalds near 09-27 which took me about 2 hours... So be careful when you take the bus in the weekends. Weekdays no problem.
Glad I have a car now  Smile

Looking forward to meet you guys at AMS.

Nice shot Miguel!
Count me in too when you're going to Schiphol. Would be nice to see each other again, and meet Wietse and Tim for the first time.
Although I'll probably skip it when the weather is bad (waste of film)

Yes, film . Slide shooters are becoming rare at AMS, with you and Wietse switching to digital. Where ever you guys get the money from, I don't know.

Happy shooting

Martin

Yeah! A good idea, to meet at AMS

I work 6 days a week, so I can only on a sunday.

Hmmm... I didn't know there is a busstop near the spottingplace, the stupid Schiphol peoples said that the Mac is the only possible place to get there with the bus.

Martin:
I still shoot with film too.

Tim:
Buy a bike? No, this summer I will move from Amersfoort to Hoofddorp for my study.

It's been a while for me now as well, maybe even a month since I visited AMS.

Like Martin said, only when the skies are clear will I come.

I use my bike here in TLS, but it still takes 1 hour to ride from my spot near 32L/R all the way up to my spots near 14L/R. Miguel, my feet and hands were frozen solid last time I went out! Big grin Makes you really appreciate any good pictures that come from of that type of outing! Big grin

Today I'm going out again, its about 3-5 now, better Big grin

Karlok,

Let me guess, you're moving to the Student-campus in Hoofddorp? To get to school at the Dutch Aviation College (NLC) ?? just wondering...  Big grin

Just moved out from Hoofddorp back to my hometown, about 4 months ago.....I've been to the NLC for over a year, the 1 year F/A course.
