Are Close Ups Harder To Get Accepted?

Sun Jan 26, 2003 6:51 am

A while ago I uploaded a couple of close up shots and got differing results, the first was accepted without warnings:

And the second was the same sort of shot but of an SAS MD90 and was rejected for badmotiv. I personally really like this type of close up and have plenty of other images like these two which are currently archived on CD, since I got the badmotiv rejection I considered that maybe this sort of picture is not what is about and haven't uploaded any of them. Is it worth giving them a try?

The other query is what is's line on faces in the windows? For me it's these faces that you sometimes get that make these sort of shots so appealing as it adds a bit of human interest but I guess some people may feel that it detracts from the overall image.

Any thoughts?

I think that the best way to approach these kind of photos (and all other non-standard shots) is to limit the quantity. Too many shots like these make them lose the appeal. Once they become common, you are better off having a common shot of the entire aircraft.

Nice shot.

Short answer yes, long answer - maybe.

Johan doesn't like them. Some of us do  Smile

Generally I like to see at least the front of the engines in a shot like the one you have included. If the shot starts to be a real close-up like the 1 above, then we have to start looking for some motivating factor for the close-up. If I can decided in my own mind that you're showing us something new or interesting then it gets marked HQ, other wise you get dumped.
