777-300ER Landing Touchup Advice Request

Thu Mar 06, 2003 3:46 am

I would like to upload a picture of the new 777-300ER that I took at BFI. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on further processing that I could do to this picture. My main concern is that it might not be cropped properly, but that is an easy fix.

What do you think?

Maybe a little less brightness and a touch more contrast would make this great image jump off the paper/screen.

What time of day were you out at KBFI and what kind of system were you using.

Awesome shots. I was out at the MOF on monday and got this Image(unretouched).

I would like to see you upload that to Anet......simply beautiful.

Thank you for the quick, and kind, advice Randy. This picture was taken around 3:00 PM, from the Museum of Flight parking lot. I am using a stand alone Sony F717, no extra lenses or filters. I should have a teleconverter to go with it soon, I would have had some great shots of it coming in if I had one now.

Nice picture too. Were you up on the hill by the old Air Force One or in the parking lot? I love how close we can be when they take off to the North. I also have some good pictures of the Boeing Defense Systems 757 (N757A) landing on taxing right in front of the parking lot. I need to touch those up as well.

Do you photog at SeaTac at all? I have not been there yet, but would like too.

I have a second picture with less brightness, and more contrast below the first picture on the same page: http://www.blarg.net/~bronko/Aviation/aviation.htm

What do you think now? Thanks.

I was shooting through the fence, I love thrashing my lense on my S602.

I shoot up at KSEA all the time usally between 9-11 am or 3:30-5 when I can get good side lighting. The POSeattle is not bothering as much as they use to,guess they figure I can do no harm. I have just made up a 4x6 mini foli and some introduction cards incase I am approched, these will be kept in my car.

Regards

Using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 I just used on click of SHARPEN and the with Bright/Contrast I decreased Brightness a couple of notches till the color looks satrated and with contrast I added contrast until the Aircraft jumped of the screen and provided seperation from the background.

Tell me what you think.

Bronko - To me, the highlights still seem blown out from over exposure. I don't know whether the improvements Randy made will still get it accepted. The photos are quite soft too, I'd reccomend going back to your original photo, cropping it tighter and resizing it to 1024x...., then fiddle with the contrast/brightness and USM to try and get something out of it... But to me, the photo looks a little too overexposed and soft to be salvaged, unfortunetely.

We'll see what happens...
