How Many D30 Uses Are There

Wed Mar 19, 2003 4:10 am

Hi,

Its a great time to get a D30 right now I just got one brand new for $700. I was just wondering how many d30 uses are on Airliners.net. And what you think of the camera? And if you have any suggestions that would be great.

Thanks
Andrew

Hey!

I went from a Fuji2800z to a D30 with no experience at all. With a little hands on and a quick flick through the manual, it soon became easy to use. I have good response from my photos too. I have a full page spread in "baby onbaord" magazine - the inflight magazine for bmi baby. Just last week a photo in "Aviation News"...

So, for me (anyway) the D30 is a great buy. Obviously the launch of new Canon range helps reduce the D30 price, but I cant complain one bit.

Am not gona hype my own photos, but if you wish to view a "sample" then check out below:

Some examples you might want to search for:

Chris Sheldon
Andrew Hunt
Gary Watt
Ben Pritchard

And of course myself, Garry Lewis.

I can't remember any more, so apologies if I missed anyone out.
It's a great camera, I am sure you will love it. Do remember though a great camera cannot cover up the defects of bad lenses, so it's worth getting a good lens (The Canon 75-300 is a good starter), for your D30.

Enjoy it !

I'm still using a D30, but don't know for how much longer.

Its a great camera, I feel its really helped me improve and with the price dropping a little I wouldn't hesitate in buying one again.

Andrew, I love the D30.

It made a huge difference in what I was able to try.

In terms of A.net of course, if I upload crap, D30 or not, the screeners will send that back at me in a heartbeat as neccesary.

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you are getting the D30 to shoot aircraft.

If you are looking for multi-use/other stuff, you might want to do more research.

I went from an EOS Elan to the D30.

My poor old Elan has remained in a dark corner of my camera bag ever since.

It's a wonderful camera! Enjoy it.

Is it worth spending the extra $350 for the D60?

If you can afford the 350 go for it...I never tried the D30, but I am in love with my D60.  Smile

I briefly had a D30, but an understanding dealer let me return it for the D60 when it was released. There is really nothing in terms of image quality between the two cameras - the D30 might even have a slight edge in sheer smoothness. The main advantage of the D60 is that quality is held to larger output sizes. So whereas a D30 image is limited to about 6x9 @ 300dpi, the D60 will cover a full page without interpolation.

Of course, you CAN take a D30 image up to full page with a bit of processing, but, in general, the D60 will do the same job as a D30 but a bit bigger. Depends what your requirements are. If you don't need large prints, the D30 will let you get twice as many images on your CF card.

Cheers,

Paul Paulsen of Los Angeles also uses a D30. If I sell some more pics I may just go ahead and buy one if they're only 700$!!! Big grin

I got the kit and a gig drive for $920, so I think I got a good deal.

Ebay you know, so I'll be happy once it's in my hand and I find out it works properly.  Big grin
