The Funniest Thing I Have Seen

Wed Apr 09, 2003 9:26 am

Today while spotting at KSEA's SPU Park I saw the funniest thing.

A Man whom I have sen on several occasions brings his black Terrier Poddle mix for a walk almost daily...the dog really enjoys the open feild. Well today they were landing aircraft on 16L the closest runway to the park, anyhow everytime a A/C would final on the left and be within the limits of the park the dog would take of and chase after the plane until it would just run into the fence...yes RUN INTO THE FENCE...face first....not just once but ten times in the half hour.

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen while spotting.

When at MAN a few years ago I saw 2 spotters argue over what sounded like registrations. He said it was xyz and the other said xyx bla bla. Next thing they are both full on fighting. Punches flying threw the air, kicking each other as well as shouting at each other. Some other people managed to break it up. I only heard later that registrations was not the real reason. Spotter 1 had been sleeping with Spotter 2's wife!!!

Well, a few funny things happened to me. Denver International is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by a few roads, some paved, some not. I was by Runway 16L, minding my own business. Some old guy who was literally about to croak drove by, stopped and asked me where Lakewood was. Lakewood was about 35 miles east of there... Another thing, me and Mark Abbott were spotting by 35L and some guy asked us how to get to the airport... Another time, an Asian guy wanted a change for a dollar. That was also by 35L, very far removed from the nearest change machine...

Another time I was by 16L and some guy just got out of the car right under the flight path, took a crap and went on his way...

Money does not bring you happiness. But it's better to cry in your own private limo than on a cold bus stop.
